You are probably already familiar with lovable Garfield cartoon character who will be serving as the national "spokescat" for this fall's Cub Scout round-up. Jim Davis, creator of Garfield, has generously permitted the Boy Scouts of America to utilize Garfield's image as an integral part of the effort to reach out to new members to join Cub Scouts.
The Garfield fall round-up theme is "Too Much Fun is Never Enough" and promises to bring a new excitement to the annual sign-up of new members. As part of the overall round-up plan, a wide variety of support materials will be utilized including:
Garfield will certainly add lots of pizazz to the fall round-up, and will be a great tool to get kids excited. But all Cub Scout packs participating in the round-up will still need to cover the basics -- we still must schedule the School Nights, do dynamite boy talks, and have people there at school night to get the adults and kids signed up and the applications turned in.
